If you live near a school, you may have noticed that instead of children walking past your house today, there were caterpillars, oompa loompas, Stick Men and Gruffalos.
It is, as if you needed reminding, World Book Day, and it got me thinking, are there any books relating to Hookah pipes or shisha smoking in general? Off to Amazon then!
First off, when I started searching I actually found this rather amazing sticker you can pop on your Mac.
Get it here : http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B014WL1LMS
Now, I’m pretty sure you can stick it to anything, and Apple computers aren’t coated with some kind of magical substance that only this will stick to, but it’s black, so obviously if the back of your computer is also black, you’re not going to see much.
And, it’s sized so that it fits neatly under the Apple logo.
But that’s not a book, so let’s crack on.
Further searches bring this:
This is an odd book.
It’s author is a fan of Lewis Carroll, and in particular, the catterpillar that smoked a hookah (yes, look it up), and this book takes that one thing and runs with it.
In the opening scene someone arrives at a school in a car. The car, however, is in the air, held aloft by helium balloons and it then descends to hand out hookahs to the kids.
Now, just to explain how nuts this book is, that car wouldn’t be able to descend without letting helium out of the balloons, but that’s OK because the author explains that it’s “against the rules of physics”.
Also, hookahs for kids??
Turns out they’re flavoured like fruit and only give out bubbles. Phew!
The book continues in this way for many many pages. It’s insane, but funny.
So we continue down the rabbit hole (see what I did?)
E-juice is becoming big business as people try to look for healthier ways to enjoy a smoke. The market in wild and wonderful flavours as therefore boomed, but there’s always room for a little experimentation.
This book aims to help by firstly giving you a crash course in the science behind it and then explaining what you need to do it right.
The instructions and equipment look like an instruction manual that wouldn’t be out of place in Breaking Bad. You could easily set this up in your camper-van and call yourself Heisenberg.
However, there’s a lot of safety equipment involved, so it’s important to follow the instructions carefully and take heed of the advice.
When you’re up and running though, you then get the instructions required to make such exotic flavours as “Banana strawberry surprise” and “Refreshing Shamrock”.
I haven’t tried any yet (and I haven’t got goggles), but as soon as I do, I’ll let you know how they come out.
And so far, that’s it for Amazon, but I will keep digging and get back to you.
